Saturday Clinic Now Open! - Monday, February 01, 2010

We are now also seeing patients twice a month on Saturdays.  This is a great compliment to the Thursday clinic, and we are able to follow up on labs that were sent out that week.

Medical Clinic

We are initially serving residents and former residents of the Durham Rescue Mission and Good Samaritan Inn who lack a stable source of primary medical care or adequate health insurance, supplementing the holistic care already provided at the Durham Rescue Mission.

Dental Clinic

Dental care will now be provided free of charge to residents several days per week by volunteer dentists and staff. Currently two full dental exam rooms, plus x-ray and full laboratory services are available.

Missions of Mercy Free Dental Clinic March 12-13 - Monday, February 15, 2010

Join many of us in volunteering at the Missions of Mercy at the downtown Durham Armory March 12-13.  The NC Dental Society is providing 60 dental chairs, and the goal is to see 1,000 patients in 2 days. We need all kinds of dental professionals, several doctors, and 400 volunteers to help the clinic.  Click on the link above to register and get involved!  Many people will come from miles around, some even spending the night in their cars, in order to be frist in line for this free dental clinic.

Money Left in your Medical Savings Account at the End of the Year?  How about helping an uninsured patient at the Samaritan Health Center by purchasing some desperately needed over the counter drugs with your expiring funds!


Over-the-Counter Medicines and Medical Products:

Glucometer test strips (50 or 100 count), Relion or Ascensia glucometers, Mucinex or Mucinex DM, Tylenol Cough/Cold/Sinus, Robitussin or Robitussin DM, Diabetic Tussin or Tussin DM, Sudafed PE, Coricidin HBP, Delsym, Cough drops (regular or sugar-free), Tylenol Extra Strength, Tylenol Arthritis, Aspirin (81mg and 325mg), Bengay ointment, cream and patches, Claritin or Zyrtec, Prilosec OTC, Zantac, Pepcid or Prevacid, Metamucil, FiberCon, Preparation H, Miralax or Imodium.


Other Office Needs:

White printer paper, Manilla file folders, Rolls of scotch tape, Current postage stamps, Legal-size easy-seal mailing envelopes, Projector.


Other ways to help:

Donate unused gift cards from Wal-Mart, Target or Staples.  Have a holiday pot-luck and suggest everyone donate what they would have spent for dinner.  This is great for offices, church groups, book and garden clubs, etc.  Make a donation in honor or in memory of someone for the holidays and Samaritan Health Center will send them a holiday card acknowledging your gift.
